The Princess Marguerite was a small luxury liner built in 1948 in Scotland by the Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Company Limited for Canadian Pacific Steamships. She and her sister ship, Princess Patricia, were designed to run the triangle route between Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle during the summer months. She arrived to Victoria April 6th 1949 and entered service April 28. In the early-mid 1970s she went through a conversion at Yarrows Ltd. She was taken out of service in the 1970s, returned to service in the 80s until her retirement in 1989. Although effort was put into keeping Princess Marguerite in Victoria waters she left in 1992.

Fonds consists of a Sons of the Sea initiation certificate for M/V Moveria dated 8 October 1935, and 7 photo albums consisting of photographs of vessels organized into the categories naval vessels, fishing vessels, passenger and freight vessels, ferries and government vessels, tugs, and dockyards around Vancouver Island. Also included are 47 loose album pages.
Fonds also includes an oak box contains mostly photographs from 1963 to 1967 of ships in Victoria. There are a mix of naval vessels, coast guard ships, and various vessels in local shipyards, including Island Tug and Barge.
Sans titreThe fonds consists of Grant's papers as able seaman and hunter in sealing vessels operating out of Victoria, British Columbia and out of Japan. Fonds relate to voyages between 1892 and 1908 and includes items such as wages for seal skins, itemized list of purchases for sealing trips, sailor's union pamphlet, correspondence, and grocery lists.
Also includes records from Victoria Sealing Company showing Grant's earnings in five schooners between 1900 and 1907 including, Director from December 1900 to October 1901; Triumph from December 1901 to September 1902; C.G. Cox from February to June 1907; Dora Sieward from June to November 1907; and Giblie (sp?) from January to October 1908. And, includes document dated 12 September 12 1892 on Marvin Company letterhead recoding a voyage of the schooner EB Marvin and showing wages, allowance for skins taken, and deductions for items purchased on board such as clothing and tobacco. This document shows that over a period of 8 months and 8 days Grant earned $410 but was charged $174.85 for purchases, for net earnings of $235.15. There is also a document in Russian dated 30 September 1905 showing that Grant, while a mate in the sealing schooner, Khokus Maru was arrested by the 199th Svir Regiment.
