Fonds consists of four documents:

• The House of Commons Debates Official Report - Unrevised Edition, Wednesday 19 April 1916,
• Two copies of the commissioner's report on the Pelagic Sealing Commission addressed to the Honourable John D. Hazen, Minister of Marine and Fisheries of Canada,
• A royal commission report addressed to the Honourable Mr. Justice Audette, commissioner, dated 10 September 1916, consisting of claims by Pelagic Sealers arising out of the Washington Treaty, 7 July 1911,
• The regulations made under the Paris Award which came into force 1894.

The fonds consists of Grant's papers as able seaman and hunter in sealing vessels operating out of Victoria, British Columbia and out of Japan. Fonds relate to voyages between 1892 and 1908 and includes items such as wages for seal skins, itemized list of purchases for sealing trips, sailor's union pamphlet, correspondence, and grocery lists.

Also includes records from Victoria Sealing Company showing Grant's earnings in five schooners between 1900 and 1907 including, Director from December 1900 to October 1901; Triumph from December 1901 to September 1902; C.G. Cox from February to June 1907; Dora Sieward from June to November 1907; and Giblie (sp?) from January to October 1908. And, includes document dated 12 September 12 1892 on Marvin Company letterhead recoding a voyage of the schooner EB Marvin and showing wages, allowance for skins taken, and deductions for items purchased on board such as clothing and tobacco. This document shows that over a period of 8 months and 8 days Grant earned $410 but was charged $174.85 for purchases, for net earnings of $235.15. There is also a document in Russian dated 30 September 1905 showing that Grant, while a mate in the sealing schooner, Khokus Maru was arrested by the 199th Svir Regiment.

Fonds consists of a typed account of a sealing venture on the sealing schooner Vancouver Belle in 1891 written by Stanley Henderson.

Fonds consists of documents relating to marine history, specifically W.H. Whiteley and the schooners Labrador and Mermaid, including masters lists and newspaper articles dating to the 1890s, 1920s, 1940s.

Fonds consists of a log book containing a record of the proceedings on board the schooner City of San Diego from the Port of Friendly Cove, Nootka to the North Pacific Ocean, commanded by Hans Blakstad, commencing 6 July 1899 and ending 14 October 1899. Kept by Hans Blakstad.

Fonds consists of the papers of Carne & Munsie, owners of sealing schooner Mary Belle. Including logs, bills, receipts, correspondence, and two summonses. Fonds also includes a leather account book for William Munsie schooner account with the Bank of British Columbia, dating from January 1893 to 5 February 1896.

Fonds consists of two photo albums containing images of HMS Barham (a naval ship used to deploy balloons in World War I), balloons dating to 1916, German Warships in Scapa Flow, and the training centre at Rockhampton (the training centre of the Royal Navy Airforce) dating to 1915.

This ledger appears to have been compiled by a dockyard official and contains several sets of records including all warships and other vessels supported by the Dockyard from 1898 to 1917, colliers that arrived Esquimalt from 1914 to 1917 with quantities of coal discharged and sources (whether Welsh or local or Australian), names of Admiralty colliers and transports that called at Esquimalt in 1915, a brief descriptions of coaling stations on the BC coast, lists of personnel employed in Esquimalt Dockyard from 1911 to 1917, wages paid from 1914 to 1915, and record of times to coal ships on various dates in 1917 which records how long coaling took and the average rate per hour.
