Another clipping from the “Liverpool Mercury” newspaper, 11 January 1860 describes the actions taken by Captain Peters while in command of the ship Sarah to save the life of a sailor who had fallen from aloft. Peters had promptly jumped overboard and rescued the sailor. There are also two printed handbills (posters) advertising the sale, in Hong Kong, on 8 March 1867 of the barque Sea Nymph, one of which has a handwritten note written by Peters recording that he has been sent to Hong Kong by the owners in late 1866 to take possession of the ship that had been aground on the China coast as the former captain had since died. Peters had travelled overland and then by P&O with full authority to act for the owners. The ship had been trading between ports in the China Seas for 4 to 5 years after last leaving England.
