Series consists of records relating to the correspondence between members of the Steamship Inspectors Office including the Chairman, Senior Steamship Inspectors and Steamship Inspectors, amongst others regarding inspections done before and after the requisition of vessels for the second world war. Mitchell Bay was built in 1937 in Alert Bay by Sharp Shipyards as a fishing boat. In 1939 she was requisitioned into the Fishermen’s Reserve as a minesweeper Auxiliary and a tender to HMCS Givenchy, HMCS Givenchy II.
