Also includes a list of seamen shipped and discharged at the port of Victoria, B.C. c. 1891, an agreement and account of crew of foreign-going ships document filled out for the schooner Dora Siewerd c. 1891, assorted documents relating to survey and repair vessel Nancy Dee during the period of November 1962 and April 1963 including correspondence and notes.

Also includes black and white photographs of lumber in the hold and a drawing of the Royal Yacht Britannia, and a souvenir book of the trial trip of SS Bowness Park, Captain G.R. Newell, with the compliments of the Canadian Transport Company, 2 dinner menus, and a typed summary of VE day celebrations.

Fonds consists of log books and journals of voyages between Liverpool and Bombay (now called Mumbai) in the 1850s and 1860s, commanded by James C. Peters.

L1382 – Log book from the ship Sarah of Liverpool, James C. Peters, Master, on the voyage from Bombay to Liverpool 15 December 1857 to 14 May 1858, kept by William Kimming (?), chief officer. Latter pages show stores received at Bombay and writing exercises.

L1383 – Journal consisting of handwritten memorandums on a passage from Liverpool to Bombay, 25 September 1862 to 19 January 1863 and returning 4 April 1863 to 23 July 1863, in the ship Queen of the Seas commanded by James Carter Peters. Slipped inside the front cover is an account of wages form dated 3 August 1963.

L1384 – Log book of a voyage of the ship Queen of the Seas commanded by James Carter Peters from Liverpool to Bombay 28 September 1864 to 18 January 1865 and from Bombay to Liverpool 28 April 1865 to 3 July 1865.

L1385 – Log book of the ship Sarah, commanded by James C. Peters, kept by chief officer, from Liverpool to Bombay 15 December 1856 to 4 May 1857, then form Bombay to Currachee 4 July 1857 to 25 July 1857, and Currachee to Bombay 2 October 1857 to 8 October 1857.

L1386 – Log book of the voyage of the ship Queen of the Seas commanded by James C. Peters from Liverpool to Bombay 13 August 1863 to 20 December 1863 and from Bombay to Liverpool 23 march 1864 to 28 July 1864.

L1387 – Log book of brig. Earl Grey commanded by John Sharp of voyage from Liverpool to Valparaiso, 1852. Remainder of book contains notes on education, poems, etc.

L1388 – Diary kept by James C. Peters, irregularly from December 30 1853 until 1858. The first part records the voyage from Liverpool to Geelong, Australia.

L1389 – Journal recording correspondence between James C. Peters and Mssrs. T. & S. Brocklebank 7 July 1856, and to Mssrs. Stewart and Douglas 11 June 1859. From ships Barque Esk, Barque Valparaiso, and Sarah.

L1390 – Bound notebook containing handwritten notes and worked examples on astronomical observations and the use of lunar tide tables in the Nautical Almanac. The bulk of the notebook is a journal record of a voyage by Captain Peters accompanied by his nephew John Peters in the steamer Rochdale May 27 to 26 August in 1879 from Cardiff out to the Black Sea and return. The first leg was to Ancoa, Italy with coal, followed by a passage to Odessa in ballast where grain was loaded for Marseille. From Marseille, the ship returned to Odessa in ballast, then loaded grain that was transported to London. Includes observations about Odessa, Ancoa, and Marseilles. In the back of the notebook are miscellaneous newspaper clippings including letters to the editor by Peters 1881 and 1889.

L1391 – Handwritten and typed copies of "An Ancient Prayer", supposed to be by James I King of Scotland. Found in Log of ship Queen of the Seas c. 1870. Also, ripped piece of an envelope? Addressed "Queen of Seas, S.S. Sarah, Documents re Seal Indian Hunting + others part of legacy to Victoria maritime Museum". "R Peters/ Okanagan Landing/ 1908/64".

L1392 – Journal consisting of memorandums on a voyage from Liverpool to Bombay in the ship Queen of the Seas, commanded by James C. Peters, written by James C. Peters 29 August 1863 to 19 December 1863. The remainder of the journal consists of a description of a voyage from Bombay to Liverpool in S/V Queen of the Seas, commanded by James C. Peters, 1865. Also includes various newspaper clippings of letters-to-the-editor written by James Peters from 26 September and 6 December 1876 while living in Austwick, United Kingdom published in the “Examiner and Trade” newspaper about the narrow escape from loss of the training ship HMS Tenedos off the entrance to the Strait of Magellan in 1876. Another clipping from the “Liverpool Mercury” newspaper, 11 January 1860 describes the actions taken by Captain Peters while in command of the ship Sarah to save the life of a sailor who had fallen from aloft. Peters had promptly jumped overboard and rescued the sailor. There are also two printed handbills (posters) advertising the sale, in Hong Kong, on 8 March 1867 of the barque Sea Nymph, one of which has a handwritten note written by Peters recording that he has been sent to Hong Kong by the owners in late 1866 to take possession of the ship that had been aground on the China coast as the former captain had since died. Peters had travelled overland and then by P&O with full authority to act for the owners. The ship had been trading between ports in the China Seas for 4 to 5 years after last leaving England. Peters had decided to sell the vessel by auction and reported that a wealthy Chinese merchant had purchased her for a good price.

L1393 – Handwritten letters concerning the ship Sarah and the Indian mutiny of 1857. The first consisting of orders to J.C. Peters, master, to proceed to Kurrachee from Bombay, dated 30 June 1857, signed by C-in-C Indian Navy. Also, a note by J.C. Peters on reverse. The second is from Deputy Collector of Customs, Kurrachee to Captain Peters thanking him for work and rewarding crew with sum of Rs 120 dated 25 September 1857. Also, note on reverse by J.C. Peters concerning disposal of Rs 120.

Fonds consists of service records for James? White including a certificate of service with the Royal Navy from 1807 to 1812, a certificate of service with the Royal Navy from 1812 to 1814, a certificate of conduct and ability for Joseph White from the Marine Society's Training Ship Warspite dated 30 October 1876, and a certificate of discharge for J. White from the Mercantile Marine Office dated 19 October 1877.

Fonds also includes a collection of envelopes commemorating the visits of warships to various ports, dating from the 1930s to the 1950s. One is in German.

Fonds consists of a Brown's Nautical Atlas of the World including seaports and distances from port to port with complete index.

Fonds consists of newspaper/magazine clippings, undated, relating to the torpedoing of SS Fort Camosun by Japanese submarines, the arrival of RMS Queen Elizabeth at Esquimalt Graving docks 23 February 1942, and the shelling of Estevan Point lighthouse, Victoria, by Japanese submarine I-26, 20 June 1942.

Also includes a book commemorating HMCS Skeena's first year in commission, compiled and edited by Lieutenant-Commander F.L. Houghton, R.C.N. Consists of a chronological account of the ship's activities during the period 10 June 1931 to 10 June 1932.

2. Framed 34.5 x 41 cm, black and white photograph of SS Elginshire off the coast of Cape Horn in 1901. The inscription on the front of the picture says it is the “vessel in which Capt. W.M. Crawford served his time”.
3. Framed 52.5 x 45 cm, black and white photograph of a pintail flying boat model 204, a Western Canada Airways boat. This boat was a Boeing Model B-1E.

Fonds consists of a December 1907 White Star Line timetable for sailings from Liverpool to various ports, and a small leather bound book containing White Star Line general information, tide tables, etc., dated 1908.

Also contains A.H. Crocker's and Frank Crocker's notes. An electrical catalogue, Canadian Pacific place-mats, a map of Alexandria, historical notes on USS Coronis and a timetable of the Gulf Island run. Includes three photographs of A.H. Crocker and an oil painting of Princess Victoria reputed to be done by a cook on the ship. The collection also includes newspaper clippings of CP Ships, employees, and activities as well as a taped interview with A.H. Crocker about the Canadian Pacific dated 15 December 1987.
