The first leg was to Ancoa, Italy with coal, followed by a passage to Odessa in ballast where grain was loaded for Marseille. Peters had promptly jumped overboard and rescued the sailor. There are also two printed handbills (posters) advertising the sale, in Hong Kong, on 8 March 1867 of the barque Sea Nymph, one of which has a handwritten note written by Peters recording that he has been sent to Hong Kong by the owners in late 1866 to take possession of the ship that had been aground on the China coast as the former captain had since died. Peters had travelled overland and then by P&O with full authority to act for the owners. The ship had been trading between ports in the China Seas for 4 to 5 years after last leaving England.
