Material related to the career of Robert B. Young for the Canadian Hydrographic Service and the launching of the vessel R. B. Young. Fond consists of a scrapbook concerning the launching of the survey vessel by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, two video recordings of the launch, two framed certificates presented to Robert B. Young upon his retirement in 1968, a collection of photos in a frame of the hydrographic vessels, and two photographs, one of Robert B. Young and one of his son Dr. R. N. Young at the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to his father.

The fonds consists of records retrieved and acquired by John Clarkson. The series of ship plans were acquired while he served as the Nautical Inspector for Transport Canada. These would have been used to help with the inspection of the ships. The correspondence series was retrieved by John Clarkson while he served as the marine examiner and surveyor in Victoria. The correspondence was originally from the Steamship Inspectors Office and contains different forms of correspondence regarding the surveys and inspections of ship that were requisitioned for the second world war before and after. These pertain to the inspection of different vessels that were active along the west coast.
The fonds is arranged into two series:

2. Correspondence-textual records

Black and white photographs of the crew and Westinghouse family members of “Southern Cross” in Victoria BC in 1940. The backs have been stamped with the date that they were printed September 11, 1940.
The photos are labeled by Agnes Westinghouse on the back as Victoria 1940. Information provided by the donor includes a newspaper blurb that the yacht “may be seen again in BC waters if a proposed northern development scheme is given government approval. Southern Cross…made a wartime visit to Vancouver in 1940”.
Southern Cross was a Swedish yacht owned by Axel Wenner-Gren, and was one of the fifth or sixth largest private motor yacht in the world at the time. She was previously owned by Howard Hughes and was built in 1930 for Lord Inchcape who died in 1932. The figurehead was made in the likeness of Lord Inchcape's daughter, Elsie Mackay, who disappeared whilst attempting to fly the Atlantic in 1928.

The fonds consists of ships plans and photographs of a number of vessels.

Fonds consists of the journal of D.L. Raymond when he was midshipman serving on the HMS Malaya from 1922-1924.

Also includes an certificate of indenture issued to E. L. Raymond in 1883, and a certificate of competency for E.L. Raymond as extra master issued by the Board of Trade in 1898.

Also includes a guest book register from HMCS Ontario dating from 1853-1954 and a photo album containing photos of HMCS Ontario, life on board, crew, and places visited (London, Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand) dating from 1953-1955.

Also includes a printed photograph album of New South Wales given to Commodore Raymond from the Premier in 1954, and a photograph of a luncheon on 10 March 1954 in Wellington, New Zealand.

Fonds consists of a photo album containing a photocopied book which details the history and ships of the Baron Line titled "H. Hogarth and Sons Limited Baron Line". The rest of the album contains black and white photographs of ships that Edward Peter de Cuhna served in with their names, positions, and dates of service listed as well as letters and certificates.

Also includes a binder containing navigational maps and charts and information regarding the River Thames in London and port in Amsterdam as well as a League of Nations report titled "Agreement for a Uniform System of Maritime Buoyage and Rules Annexed Thereto", published in Geneva, 1936, and printed in both French and English.
