The fonds consists of Grant's papers as able seaman and hunter in sealing vessels operating out of Victoria, British Columbia and out of Japan. Fonds relate to voyages between 1892 and 1908 and includes items such as wages for seal skins, itemized list of purchases for sealing trips, sailor's union pamphlet, correspondence, and grocery lists.

Also includes records from Victoria Sealing Company showing Grant's earnings in five schooners between 1900 and 1907 including, Director from December 1900 to October 1901; Triumph from December 1901 to September 1902; C.G. Cox from February to June 1907; Dora Sieward from June to November 1907; and Giblie (sp?) from January to October 1908. And, includes document dated 12 September 12 1892 on Marvin Company letterhead recoding a voyage of the schooner EB Marvin and showing wages, allowance for skins taken, and deductions for items purchased on board such as clothing and tobacco. This document shows that over a period of 8 months and 8 days Grant earned $410 but was charged $174.85 for purchases, for net earnings of $235.15. There is also a document in Russian dated 30 September 1905 showing that Grant, while a mate in the sealing schooner, Khokus Maru was arrested by the 199th Svir Regiment.

Fonds consists of the apprentice indenture form, Canadian Government Merchant Marine Limited co-operating with the Navy League of Canada, for George Ronald Newell, dated 21 July 1920 and a cancellation of indenture dated 23 November 1923.

Also includes a list of seamen shipped and discharged at the port of Victoria, B.C. c. 1891, an agreement and account of crew of foreign-going ships document filled out for the schooner Dora Siewerd c. 1891, assorted documents relating to survey and repair vessel Nancy Dee during the period of November 1962 and April 1963 including correspondence and notes.

Also includes black and white photographs of lumber in the hold and a drawing of the Royal Yacht Britannia, and a souvenir book of the trial trip of SS Bowness Park, Captain G.R. Newell, with the compliments of the Canadian Transport Company, 2 dinner menus, and a typed summary of VE day celebrations.

Fonds consists of letters from Captain George Hutingford to his wife dating from November 1892 to March 1896, including descriptions of the West Coast of Canada ca. 1892, life in the Royal Navy, and the movements of the HMS Nymphe on the California coast, Mexico, and South America. Contains approximately 400 letters, and a family tree provided by the donor.

Also includes the naval papers belonging to Captain George Huntingford, Royal Navy including the movements of HMS Nymphe from December 1892 to March 1896 and three letters dating to November 1892.

The fonds consists of Royal Canadian Navy service records dating from 1894 to 1912, and Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve certificates dating from 1917 to 1919.

Also includes a letter of reference and volunteer sign-up sheet, demobilization certificate, station cards, and two postcards of unidentified people and objects.

Fonds consists of correspondence from Rear-Admiral H.F. Stephenson (Royal Navy Pacific Station) to Lt. Col. G.A.L. Rawstorne relating to mine recommendations by the Admiralty and a reply containing a detailed report and chart with sections contributed by Captain G.E. Barnes and Lt. Poole, Royal Marine Artillery. Chart is of the mouth of Esquimalt Harbour.

Fonds also includes Barnes' photographs of Victoria and Esquimalt area and a mock battle in Beacon Hill Park (Victoria).

Fonds consists of a Canadian Pacific Steamships Limited Empress of France abstract of a log for a voyage from Montreal & Quebec to Liverpool departing on 6 June 1952 and a pamphlet for C.P. Rail Ferry service from Vancouver-Vancouver Island.

Fonds consists of Canadian Pacific Railway travel brochures, passenger list, and menu, dating to 1938 and 1951 and a Canadian Official Airline magazine regarding the Victoria-Maui International Yacht Race held in June 1988.

Fonds consists of two pamphlets published by F.V. Longstaff titled "The Uganda in Action" and "To Commission and To Pay Off", a ship models catalogue exhibited by the Shop Model Society at the second annual exhibition, 1933, and a catalogue of the second exhibition, April 1934 of the Ship Thermopylae, arranged by the Ship Lovers Association of Victoria, B.C.
