Fonds consists of an admittance and discharge log book from Marine Hospital, Victoria dating from 1874 to 1878. Includes the name, country, ship, and age of the patient as well as the date of admittance and discharge and the total number of days in the hospital.

Fonds consists of a booklet outlining the regulations for preventing collisions at sea which will be in force on and after 1 September 1884 issued in pursuance of The Merchant Shipping Act Amendment Act 1862 and a notice outlining the regulations for native and foreign captains trading to the port of Riga published by the military governor of Riga 1884.

Also includes a notice by the board of trade to masters of ships for guidance in the event of cholera on board describing symptoms of the disease and curative measures to be employed by ships at sea without medical aid, and a booklet outlining the rules for the execution of pilot signals in the Russian Ports, dated 9 March 1861.
