Rawstorne relating to mine recommendations by the Admiralty and a reply containing a detailed report and chart with sections contributed by Captain G.E. Barnes and Lt. Poole, Royal Marine Artillery. Chart is of the mouth of Esquimalt Harbour.

Contains approximately 400 letters, and a family tree provided by the donor.

Fonds consists of a small leather diary consisting of handwritten accounts of the vessel Herman which was used to service Race Rocks Lighthouse from 1871 to 1875. Two handwritten notes are slid into a pouch at the front, one dated 1843.

Provincial Goal, Victoria, BC, committing George McCleave, stoker of HMS Warspit for 42 days with hard labour on the charge of being drunk and unfit for duty, beginning 14 September 1892. Signed by H. Lambton, Captain.

Phillips.

Also includes a small booklet containing information about Canadian Pacific Steamships and a passenger list for the Empress of Scotland sailing from Quebec to Cherbourg and Southampton Wednesday 18 July 1928 as well as a diner menu for Tuesday 24 July 1928 and a lunch menu for Wednesday 25 July 1928. The menus are postcards on the reverse and were collected as souvenirs of a voyage taken by Miss J. Phillips.
