The letters numbered 0010 and 0011 survived the bombing of Manila in World War II and were brought by the donor's father to Seattle in 1945 after his internment by the Japanese at Santo Tomas University, Manila, Philippine Islands, from 1942 to 1945. Also, a framed souvenir coloured drawing of the Canadian Pacific Steamship Empress of Japan.
