Fonds consists of a certificate of merchant marine cadet ship Beaver for contribution to maritime and citizenship training of youth. Certificate number 120 with two signatures at the bottom, but not addressed to anyone. Also contains a copper medallion of the Beaver attached with wax to the certificate and a small, fold-out card describing the Beaver medallion and providing a brief account of SS Beaver.
Fonds consists of a booklet outlining the regulations for preventing collisions at sea which will be in force on and after 1 September 1884 issued in pursuance of The Merchant Shipping Act Amendment Act 1862 and a notice outlining the regulations for native and foreign captains trading to the port of Riga published by the military governor of Riga 1884.
Also includes a notice by the board of trade to masters of ships for guidance in the event of cholera on board describing symptoms of the disease and curative measures to be employed by ships at sea without medical aid, and a booklet outlining the rules for the execution of pilot signals in the Russian Ports, dated 9 March 1861.
Fonds consists of service records for James? White including a certificate of service with the Royal Navy from 1807 to 1812, a certificate of service with the Royal Navy from 1812 to 1814, a certificate of conduct and ability for Joseph White from the Marine Society's Training Ship Warspite dated 30 October 1876, and a certificate of discharge for J. White from the Mercantile Marine Office dated 19 October 1877.
Fonds also includes a collection of envelopes commemorating the visits of warships to various ports, dating from the 1930s to the 1950s. One is in German.
