Fonds consists of the personal and professional papers of Lieutenant Commander James D. Laurie. Includes his cadet second class graduation diploma, naval appointments, and orders, certificates, letters of references, and correspondence, dating from 1913 to 1949 as well as documents and correspondence related to insurance policy, pension payments, and adjustments, dating from 1933 to 1958. Also includes a handwritten letter and envelope recovered by divers from the wreck of SS Empress of Ireland, a Christmas card with a picture of an unidentified military band, and a photo album that should contain approximately 100 negatives of pictures taken during a cruise of HMS Berwick from February 1913 to February 1914 but, as of May 2016, all the negatives are missing.

Also includes a journal and note book for the use of junior officers, kept by Midshipman Laurie on HMS Niobe beginning 27 August 1914. The journal includes some coloured detail drawings of ship parts and the dust jacket is actually a map folded over the cover.

Framed document “Articles of War for the Government of her Majesty’s Canadian Ships, Vessels, and Forces by Sea, according to the National Defence Act (QRCR Articles 33.005 and 43.01)”, listing possible offences and associated punishments.

Fonds consists of rough deck logs for the Barque S.F. Tolmie dating from 1923 to 1924 and a Department of National Defense Naval Service list of all vessels in commission dated 11 August 1941.

Fonds consists of photographs and documents related to the service of Lieutenant Commander Herbert William Mayne including documents from the Department of National Defense treasury office regarding pension payments dated 1956, a document from the Government of Canada dated 1955, and several photographs of Mayne in uniform.

Phillips.

Also includes a small booklet containing information about Canadian Pacific Steamships and a passenger list for the Empress of Scotland sailing from Quebec to Cherbourg and Southampton Wednesday 18 July 1928 as well as a diner menu for Tuesday 24 July 1928 and a lunch menu for Wednesday 25 July 1928. The menus are postcards on the reverse and were collected as souvenirs of a voyage taken by Miss J. Phillips.

Fonds consists of documents and ephemeral collected by Frederick Ernest Grubb during his naval career beginning with his naval training in 1928. Fonds includes documents related to training and procedures from the Royal Canadian Navy, the Department of National Defence, Royal Canadian Sea Cadets; and the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve as well as memorabilia from events and ceremonies of the Royal Canadian Navy and British Columbia's centennial celebrations in 1958.
