Fonds consists of documents and ephemeral collected by Frederick Ernest Grubb during his naval career beginning with his naval training in 1928. Fonds includes documents related to training and procedures from the Royal Canadian Navy, the Department of National Defence, Royal Canadian Sea Cadets; and the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve as well as memorabilia from events and ceremonies of the Royal Canadian Navy and British Columbia's centennial celebrations in 1958. Also includes documents relating to Grubb's gunnery training and the 1967 training cruise of the Japanese Training Squadron.

Fonds consists of documents relating to HMCS Skeena including A station card and a card containing the names of personnel from her maiden voyage from Portland, England to Esquimalt, British Columbia 25 June 1931 and a handmade booklet titled "Crossing the Line: HMCS Skeena: 4th February 1938" containing crossing the line ceremony procedures. The front cover is hand-drawn and E.R. Nutter's signature is on the front in green ink.

Fonds also includes a magazine titled "Programme of the Coronation Review of the Fleet by His Majesty the King" dated 20 May 1937 and published under the authority of the Portsmouth Navy Week Committee, a programme for "The Royal Canadian Navy presents Meet the Navy" published by the Directorate of Special Services, and a March 1940 issue of "Bos'n's call" magazine published by HMS Naden.
