Built in 1940 at Stanley Park Shipyards as a seiner fishing boat. Between 1942-1944 she was used as a patrol vessel and tender to HMCS Givenchy II, and was crewed by Fishermen’s Reserve.
There is correspondence regarding the requisition of the vessel for the Second World War between AA Stephens, TH Evans, and TM Stephen. Saravan was built in 1938 by Stanley park Shipyards and was in service as a harbour tug in Victoria. Named after the wife, Sarah Nelson, of the original 1938-1940 owner William F. Nelson. In 1940 she was owned by Harry Van Froome. She was requisitioned 1940-1942 as a harbour auxiliary and as a boom defence tug and as a tender at HMCS Naden III in Comox BC.
