              Fonds consists of the personal and professional papers of Harold C. Saunders relating to his naval career including a certificate of indenture and correspondence dating to the 1880s and pilotage certificates, pilotage exemption certificates, and permits dating from 1914 to 1917.

              Also includes documents and correspondence relating to his his World War I service including newspaper clippings, and documents specifically relating to his time as a prisoner of war in the Karlsruhe POW camp in Germany in 1918.

              Also includes correspondence between the Canadian Government Merchant Marine Limited, dating to 1922.

              Fonds also includes black and white travel photographs of the South Pacific including Sidney, Australia, Malta, Singapore, ect., and three photo albums of travel photographs and photographs of various vessels. One photo is dated 1894, others are dated from 1903 to 1913.
