Built in 1925 by Arnet & Berg in Vancouver as a seiner fishing boat. In 1939 Cape Beale was requisition into the Fishermen’s Reserve fleet as a Minesweeper auxiliary and 1942-1944 she served as a tender to HMCS Givenchy.
Correspondence regarding the requisition of the vessel for the Second World War between JT Edmond, FA Willsher, TM Stephen and 4 reports from 26 May 1944 on the hull and machinery done at the Esquimalt Naval Dockyard. There is also a Main reconversion, alterations, repairs and renewals report.

Series consists of records relating to the correspondence between members of the Steamship Inspectors Office including the Chairman, Senior Steamship Inspectors and Steamship Inspectors, amongst others regarding inspections done before and after the requisition of vessels for the second world war.
