HMS Excellent was a Royal Navy gunnery training establishment in Portsmouth harbour between 1830 and 1985. Training was initially done in the hulk of a wooden warship named Excellent built in 1797. In 1886, the school moved ashore to Whale Island in. The school finally closed in 1985. HMS Excellent re-opened in 1994 and is now the location of the Damage Control School.

2nd Rate Ship of the Line built Bombay Dockyard, 3,594 tons. She served on the Canadian Forces Pacific Station from 1858 to 1860 as a flagship. She was the last sailing ship to serve as a flagship in Royal Navy. She became a training vessel in 1865 under several names and was broken up in 1929.
Composite screw corvette, 2,120 tons. Served on the Canadian Forces Pacific Station from 1891 to 1894.
